In this interview Alan Walker talks to Danny Russell – a highly regarded expert on insights, data & analytics, from the world of customer experience – on his top tips for recruiters looking to move towards being a more candidate-focussed and data-driven function.

We learnt that:

  1. Emotional engagement – understanding your candidates’ underlying wants, needs and desires and going beyond their CV – will bring great benefits
  2. Immersion – understanding the process candidates have to go through when applying for your roles, and putting yourself in their shoes – will help you deliver a far better candidate experience
  3. Data & Analytics – in particular predictive analytics – can be used to understand the “next best action” i.e. most likely action, of an individual, which will lead to you having a better idea of when a candidate is ready to move jobs
