Having an inclusive workplace would seem logical - but what challenges do employers face, and why is it important that they meet them head on? Alan Walker speaks to Joanne Lockwood on how employers can be more trans-inclusive and welcoming organisations generally.

Having an inclusive workplace would seem logical – but what challenges do employers face and why is it important that they meet them head on? Alan Walker speaks to Joanne Lockwood on how employers can be more trans-inclusive and welcoming organisations generally.

We learnt:

  • That organisations need to look at their policies and processes
  • That businesses that have a culture of being open & respectful will be more successful in providing an environment for all employees
  • That leaders need to invest in inclusion training, regardless of whether they are aware of having a trans person in the organisation
  • That companies can tackle most inclusion challenges by striving for an environment that embraces diversity of thought and background
  • That there are also commercial benefits to being inclusive, such as retaining talent, diversity of thought, candidate attraction and having a better understanding of customers
